Area Sales Manager – Industrial Automation
We're looking for an experienced Area Sales Manager to drive growth across an assigned region within the industrial and building automation markets. This role is ideal for a commercially driven sales professional who thrives on developing new business, managing key accounts, and expanding market presence.
The Role
You'll be responsible for developing and executing a regional sales strategy to achieve and exceed revenue and profitability targets. Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders, you'll identify new opportunities, strengthen existing relationships, and grow market share across multiple sales channels.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute a targeted sales strategy for existing and prospective accounts
* Identify, prioritize, and convert new business opportunities within strategic markets
* Build strong relationships with machine builders, distributors, system integrators, panel builders, OEMs, and end users
* Promote a portfolio of electronic and electrical automation solutions
* Prospect new accounts and develop a strong sales pipeline
* Negotiate commercial terms in line with business guidelines
* Deliver sales forecasts, reports, and market analysis
* Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback
* Gather market intelligence to support strategic and product decisions
* Organise and deliver product training and sales seminars for customers and partners
* Maintain accurate reporting of activities, visits, and opportunities in a CRM system
* Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events
What We're Looking For
* Proven B2B sales experience within industrial automation or related sectors
* Strong track record of selling through distributor and partner channels
* Experience working with OEMs, panel builders, and system integrators
* Ability to identify opportunities, negotiate effectively, and close deals
* Strategic, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently within a territory
* Strong communication, presentation, and reporting skills
* Confident using CRM platforms and Microsoft Office tools
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline
* Minimum 5 years' experience in industrial automation sales
* Expertise in strategic prospecting, value-based selling, and negotiation
* Business-level English required; additional European languages are an advantage
