Great opportunity for a Therapeutic Area Lead to join a leading biotech company with rapidly developing pipeline and eminent launches. You will play a key role in shaping the medical and scientific direction of the local organization and lead the team of Medical Affairs Professionals. Experience in a people management role in Medical Affairs is a must (mid-seniority level).
JOB SCOPE:
It is a key role in a fast growing therapeutic area with people management and strategic responsibility.
You will act as the medical expert supporting all aspects of the local business to ultimately enhance the customers' experience in interacting with the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Responsibilities
* Lead team of Medical Affairs Professionals
* Support medical leadership and business unit management in planning and managing the local medical budget.
* Pursue ongoing professional development and actively contribute to the growth and coaching of colleagues.
* Serve as a credible ambassador for both patients and the company’s brand.
Customer & Business Support
* Anticipate and understand the scientific information needs of local stakeholders, including payers, patients, and healthcare professionals.
* Serve as the medical expert for business-to-business and business-to-government initiatives.
* Continuously contribute to strategic planning for currently marketed products.
* Gain a deep understanding of market dynamics and how these influence medical interventions for the product.
* Lead the definition of the Patient Journey and key Moments of Truth, acting as both a medical expert and patient advocate.
* Partner with internal and global teams to develop and implement medical strategies that support product launches and lifecycle management.
* Provide scientific and clinical insights for pricing, reimbursement, and access (PRA) initiatives.
Scientific Engagement
* Contribute to data generation and dissemination — including abstracts, posters, and publications.
* Build and maintain collaborative relationships with external scientific experts, key opinion leaders, and professional societies at local, national, and international levels.
* Represent the company at scientific congresses, responding to questions, presenting data, and engaging with thought leaders and customers.
Clinical Planning
* Collaborate to ensure that drug lifecycle and development plans address real-world customer needs.
* Support investigator identification and selection in partnership with clinical teams.
* Participate in study start-up activities by providing scientific guidance and training to investigators and site staff.
ABOUT YOU
* Experience in a people management role in Medical Affairs at a pharma/biotech company
* Fluent in Dutch, French, and English (and live in Belgium)
* Mid-seniority level
* Excellent communicator with strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
* Diplomatic, collaborative, and confident in engaging with healthcare professionals.
* Strategic thinker with strong project management and prioritization abilities.
* Self-motivated, energetic, and passionate about improving patient outcomes.
* Goal oriented and strive for innovative solutions.
* Reside in Belgium
