Software Architect – Antwerp – Freelance 18 months+
For an international logistics client based in Antwerp, I am looking for a freelance Software Architect for a long-term mission.
This role offers 2 days working from home per week.
Responsibilities:
* Act as a technical sparring partner to both the Enterprise Architect and the development teams, ensuring robust, safe, and scalable system design during this growth phase.
* Define and evolve software architectures for modular, multi-device systems.
* Act as a sparring partner for the Enterprise Architect on system-wide design decisions.
* Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership to developers at different seniority levels.
* Ensure alignment between high-level architecture and low-level implementation.
* Design for safety, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
* Support systems running on Linux-based environments (not bare metal only).
Skills:
* You have at least 5 years of experience in a similar architect role.
* Strong background in C++ for industrial or embedded-adjacent systems.
* Solid experience with Linux-based systems (kernel-level knowledge not required, but system-level understanding is essential).
* Proven experience designing complex, modular software architectures.
* Experience with real-time systems is a bonus.
* You are fluent in English.
