Freelance Senior Cloud Engineer - Transformation Project - Long Term
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer (Azure) to play a key role in a large-scale cloud transformation project. This role is hands-on and strategic, focusing on designing, building, and optimising Azure platforms while supporting the migration and modernisation of applications and infrastructure. You will work closely with architects, security teams, and DevOps engineers to deliver a secure, scalable, and future-ready cloud environment.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure at enterprise scale. Build and evolve secure, scalable Azure landing zones. Configure and manage core Azure services including compute, storage, networking, and identity. Support large-scale migration and modernisation initiatives (on-prem to Azure). Assist with application rehosting, refactoring, and cloud-native adoption. Ensure minimal downtime and operational stability during transformation phases. Implement Azure security best practices including RBAC, Conditional Access, networking security, and encryption. Apply governance using Azure Policy, tagging, cost management, and access controls. Support compliance with internal security standards and external frameworks. Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates. Improve automation for provisioning, configuration, and deployments.
