to support key digital and regulatory transformation projects within one of Belgium’s leading
utilities organisations

Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain backend services using
Java (Spring/Spring Boot) Build and secure REST APIs supporting utilities operations Contribute to system integrations within complex energy ecosystems Help modernise legacy platforms into service-oriented/microservices architectures Collaborate with analysts, testers, and architects in Agile squads Ensure performance, reliability, and code quality through testing and reviews Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices Promote clean coding, maintainability, and continuous improvement
Ideal Candidate: 4+ years of Java backend development experience Demonstrable
tenure within Belgian utilities companies
(grid operators, suppliers, water/electricity providers, or market facilitators like Atrias, Fluvius, Sibelga, ORES, Elia) Strong grasp of OOP, SOLID principles, and enterprise development Experience with
Spring, Maven/Gradle, REST APIs, SQL/Oracle/PostgreSQL Familiar with integration patterns or messaging (Kafka/MQ) Used to working in Agile teams with cross-functional stakeholders Strong communicator with a quality-first engineering mindset Comfortable with unit testing, code reviews, and clean architecture
Desirable: Experience in regulated environments Knowledge of energy market processes or messaging standards (e.g., MIG6) Familiarity with CI/CD, DevSecOps, containers, or cloud deployments Understanding of event-driven architectures (nice to have)
