Salute is looking to hire a proactive Data Center Facilities Engineer for our Ternat, Brussels location who loves solving complex infrastructure challenges. How we operate: In many data center teams I’ve been part of, roles were strictly divided—one person monitoring systems, another handling maintenance, and a few engineers responding to incidents. Tasks often followed a rigid flow, and you mostly reacted to issues rather than proactively improving operations. At Salute, we take a more integrated approach. Every team member contributes to keeping the data center running smoothly, often wearing multiple hats depending on the situation. Sometimes that means performing routine checks and maintenance using established procedures. Other times, it requires troubleshooting complex issues or optimizing systems in real time, making decisions that directly impact 24/7 client operations. In these cases, engineers take ownership, coordinate with the team, and ensure the data center remains fully operational without waiting for directives. This role will be a great fit if you like: Working in a small, highly collaborative team of 4–6 engineers where your contributions directly impact 24/7 client operations. Gaining hands-on experience with a wide range of data center systems —HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and control systems—rather than being limited to a single specialty. Troubleshooting and solving technical issues in real time, using your observation skills and problem-solving ability to keep mission-critical systems running smoothly. Learning and growing in a fast-paced environment where every day brings new challenges and opportunities to optimize operations. The role may not be a fit if: You prefer a strictly defined role with minimal variety in tasks or systems. You are uncomfortable responding to emergencies or critical incidents outside of a typical schedule. You prefer working in isolation rather than collaborating closely with a small, tight-knit team. You are not comfortable learning and adapting quickly to new systems and processes. On a regular basis you will: Monitor, operate, and maintain data center infrastructure to ensure continuous uptime. Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and control systems. Respond to alarms, incidents, and client issues in a timely and effective manner. Collaborate with your team to troubleshoot, optimize, and improve operational procedures. Contribute to documentation, checklists, and operational protocols to support consistent 24/7 operations. Skills and experience you will bring: Mechanical/Electrical qualification An interest in preventative maintenance of mechanical/electrical systems. A background in critical facilities, aviation or the energy sector is a plus. Comfortable working 12hr shifts including days, nights and weekends. Fluent in English language written and spoken.
