As a Senior Safety Specialist, you will be the key expert in health, safety and environment at our production site in Joure. You will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations while actively strengthening a safety culture focused on awareness, responsibility and continuous improvement.
In this versatile role, you work closely with a broad range of stakeholders including site management, municipal authorities, water authorities and internal teams. You will develop and implement safety policies, conduct risk assessments, advise on improvements, lead safety programmes and support incident analysis. You will also contribute to sustainability initiatives within the factory.
Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Excellence Manager, your role will involve close collaboration with other safety professionals and cross-functional teams to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
This position is open to candidates both in The Netherlands and across Europe who already have proven Health & Safety experience. We offer relocation support where required and sponsorship or employer reimbursement for the HVK certification.

Principle Accountabilities
Develop, implement and maintain health, safety and environmental policies, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and inspections of facilities, equipment and processes to identify and mitigate hazards.
Follow up on and analyse incidents, manage reporting systems, and recommend preventive and corrective actions.
Train and guide employees and leaders in safety awareness, procedures and best practices.
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including management, local authorities and water boards to ensure adherence to safety standards.
Contribute to sustainability and environmental programmes aimed at reducing the site's CO₂ footprint.
Skills and Experience Required
Bachelor-level working and thinking capacity, complemented by a Higher Safety Expert (HVK) qualification.
Proven professional experience in Health & Safety, ideally within a technical or manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, RI&E, RCA and other safety and analysis methodologies.
Experience with relevant software and systems, such as Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and incident reporting tools.
Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to influence and engage at different organisational levels.
Fluency in English is required; Dutch is considered a strong plus but not mandatory.
