Job Description
The Senior Project Engineer acts as the Technical Lead on assigned projects and supports the Project Manager in coordinating, planning, and executing the engineering scope. Acting as the technical end‑responsible for complex, multidisciplinary projects, the Senior Project Engineer mentors the engineering team.
Responsibilities include:
Serve as the technical SPOC and Technical Lead for racking and robotics projects.
Lead the technical execution of projects from handover until final implementation in close collaboration with the Project Manager.
Study and analyze all technical documentation provided by internal and external stakeholders and translate it into the most efficient technical solution within given constraints.
Identify missing information, technical risks, and interface issues, and define mitigating actions to ensure successful project execution.
Coordinate technical requirements, specifications, engineering scope, and technical change management throughout the project lifecycle.
Produce, review, and validate required technical documentation, calculations, layouts, and reports to support the proposed solution and customer approvals.
Perform and coordinate CAD design reviews, interface checks, collision validations, and layout approvals to ensure feasibility, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
Review and validate designs, calculations, and drawings from subcontractors, junior and medior engineers, and support implementation of engineering standards and best practices.
Coordinate, instruct, and follow up engineering team members and external engineering partners assigned to projects.
Act as the technical lead towards customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments on all engineering-related topics.
Ensure machine safety compliance by coordinating safety layouts, concepts, safety matrix definitions, and technical safety validations during design and execution phases.
Support project planning, milestone follow‑up, budgeting, variation orders, and technical risk assessments.
Attend and lead technical meetings, site inspections, and on‑site activities when required.
Assist in supplier selection, technical evaluation of quotations, and technical follow‑up during procurement, installation, and commissioning phases.
Support stakeholders during execution to ensure proper implementation of the approved technical solution and assist during engineering, installation, and commissioning.
Guide and coach junior and medior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
Act as Ambassador of the company toward all stakeholders.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Engineering (electromechanics, industrial design, etc.) or equivalent with at least 7 years of relevant experience in project engineering or technical project execution.
Good knowledge of English; Dutch, French, and/or German is a plus.
Strong technical leadership and communication skills.
Strong sense of initiative, stress resistance, and dynamism.
Knowledge of stability and strength calculations.
Affinity with materials and industrial installations.
Good knowledge of MS Office, mainly Excel.
Experience with CAD design reviews, multidisciplinary engineering coordination, and machine safety is a strong plus.
Experience coordinating engineering teams and multidisciplinary projects is a strong plus.
Willingness to travel abroad.
