About the Role
Our client, a central force in the digital transformation of the Belgian public sector, is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join their Telecom Competence Center. This freelance mission is your opportunity to shape, secure, and evolve the network infrastructure that underpins critical public services across 180+ sites. What You'll Be Doing
* Integrating into a high-performing network team to ensure the physical and logical integrity of a large-scale, multi-site network environment
* Leading and executing network projects, from design to deployment, with a focus on Cisco technologies
* Providing expert guidance and hands-on implementation for Cisco ACI, Catalyst, and WiFi (WLC 9800) solutions
* Mentoring junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and technical excellence
* Supporting the team lead in strategic decision-making and network architecture choices
* Diagnosing and resolving complex network issues using advanced tools such as Wireshark
* Ensuring robust network security, access policies, and compliance with best practices
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact, user-centric solutions
What We're Looking For
* Proven expertise in Cisco networking, with a current CCIE certification (required)
* Hands-on experience with Cisco ACI (including EPG creation, Bridge Domains, port configuration)
* Advanced knowledge of Cisco Catalyst Center (supervision, inventory, automation)
* Strong command of ISE for access policy administration
* Deep understanding of MPLS, BGP, and VRF routing
* Mastery of Routing & Switching: VLAN, STP, HSRP, OSPF, BGP on Catalyst platforms
* Expertise in network supervision and troubleshooting with tools like Wireshark
* Experience deploying and managing WiFi access points (WLC 9800)
* Builder mindset: ownership, initiative, and a drive to deliver real-world impact
* Ability to mentor, collaborate, and elevate team performance
Language Proficiency
* Active knowledge of English and French (both required for daily operations and documentation)
Other Requirements
* Freelance position with a fixed project duration: 11 months (15/01/2026 – 14/12/2026)
* Hybrid work model (onsite and remote)
* Compliance with public procurement frameworks
* Ability to provide proof of CCIE certification upon application
