Overview

Senior facilities engineer – electrical maintenance position in Ghent, Belgium. The Ghent E&PS FM team manages critical installations, facilities and utilities with the main goal of 24/7 availability in a safe and compliant manner for occupants and activities. The role is based in Ghent and reports to the facilities manager. The position is part of Johnson & Johnson’s E&PS FM CarT team, supporting the Beerse, Geel, Olen, La Louvière, Courcelles and Ghent sites and future expansions. We are seeking an experienced electrical maintenance engineer who will provide technical expertise in the design, programming, installation, testing and modification of electrical modules, systems and equipment. The ideal candidate has strong electrical engineering knowledge, problem-solving skills, innovation mindset, and solid project management and communication abilities, with the ability to work as a stress-resilient team player. Responsibilities

Facilities asset maintenance: manage maintenance contracts with mechanical maintenance counterpart, interface with key contractors for service, repairs, and agreements for facility and grounds. Responsible for all electrical utility systems, projects, validation and on-site coordination. Work management & optimization: continuously apply a Kaizen mindset, identify and lead cost and technical improvements. Collaborate closely with the reliability engineer regarding changes and improvements. Facilities compliance & safety: ensure adherence to regulatory standards, safety protocols, environmental requirements, and QMS. Close out QMS documents (audit actions, NCs, CAPA, CCs, maintenance records). Implement EHS requirements for electrical purchases and installation of new facilities equipment. Contribute to a proactive safety culture. Asset technology & data integration: stay current with electrical technologies (incl. IoT-enabled assets) to improve maintenance planning, reliability and data-driven decisions. Provide guidance to the team, lead software and controls projects, and lead energy-saving initiatives. Maintenance reliability & fundamentals: apply maintenance reliability principles (e.g., RCA, FMEA) to improve asset dependability and reduce downtime. Design, program, install, test and modify modules and systems in collaboration with the reliability team. Leadership & team development: integrate into the E&PS FM CarT team, collaborate with reliability engineer, scheduler and mechanical maintenance engineer, supervise electrical contractors for facilities projects. System & data management: work with CMMS to track asset performance, generate reports and support strategic decisions; ensure high-quality data maintenance in CMMS. Budget & performance metrics: manage budgets for planned and running projects with rigor. Key relationships: establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders; collaborate with reliability engineer, scheduler and mechanical maintenance engineer to initiate changes and oversee larger projects with E&PS project delivery teams. Qualifications

Master’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience; excellent technical knowledge required. Minimum 5–7 years of facilities management experience in facilities, utilities and maintenance. Experience with GxP and quality management. Proven ability to work in teams and build relationships; strong communication skills. Proficiency in CMMS and asset management technologies, including IoT systems. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to meet tight timelines and handle peak loads (e.g., shutdowns). Flexible and proactive with a can-do attitude; strong written and spoken communication in Dutch and English (other languages are an asset). What to Expect
