Job Title: Dismantling / Decommissioning Engineer – Nuclear Power Plants
Contract Type: Freelance
Start Date: April 2026
Rate: Competitive (Dependent on experience)
Languages Required: Dutch and French
We are seeking an experienced Dismantling / Decommissioning Engineer to support nuclear decommissioning activities in Belgium. The role involves the supervision, planning, quality assurance, and documentation of dismantling activities, ensuring all works are executed safely, compliantly, and in line with nuclear regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and oversee dismantling and decommissioning activities on site
* Ensure compliance with radiation protection, nuclear safety, and environmental regulations
* Provide technical input on dismantling methodologies, equipment, and sequencing
* Perform quality assurance oversight and verification of works
* Review, prepare, and manage technical and QA/QC documentation
* Support project planning, scheduling, and progress reporting
* Supervise and support on-site technicians and contractors
* Liaise closely with site management, radiation protection teams, and engineering stakeholders
Required Experience & Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Civil, or Process Engineering
* Extensive experience in nuclear power plant dismantling or decommissioning projects
* Strong understanding of radiation protection principles and nuclear site operations
* Proven experience with QA/QC processes, audits, and compliance documentation
* Experience supervising site-based teams in a regulated nuclear environment
