We are hiring an Enterprise Architect for the European Commission in Brussels and various locations around Europe.
Main Responsibilities
4. Create business architecture models that reflect the organization’s strategies and goals.
5. Integrate the project and program strategies and ensure alignment with business strategies and drivers, and management priorities.
6. Identify ways to reduce costs in IT and business leadership.
7. Evaluate systems for discrepancies or vulnerabilities.
8. Conduct research to find ways to improve operations.
9. Provide business architecture and systems processing guidance.
10. Create and implement a business vision and multi-year plan.
Successful Candidate
LEVEL OF EDUCATION
Bachelor's or Master's Degree
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
11. Proven ability to design and implement full-stack architectural solutions across Angular, Java, EJB, and Kafka-based environments
12. Hands-on expertise in:
Angular 18
Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs)
Java
Kafka
ElasticSearch
SQL
13. Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, COBIT, and Zachman
14. Practical experience in developing and implementing architectural models based on these frameworks
15. Proficiency in enterprise architecture notations including ArchiMate and BPMN
16. Experience with enterprise architecture tools (e.g., ARIS or similar)
17. Experience defining and executing IT and architecture strategies under a CIO or equivalent governance structure
18. Ability to integrate a broad range of business, information, and technology skills to solve complex enterprise challenges
19. Deep familiarity with enterprise architecture goals and best practices
20. Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align business and technical teams
21. Strong communication skills:
Verbal – capable of delivering presentations, leading seminars, and articulating complex ideas clearly
Written – able to produce high-quality documentation, reports, and architecture deliverables
22. Skilled in facilitating group sessions and workshops with both technical and non-technical audiences
23. Strong capability to promote and evangelize architecture concepts, influencing both technical and business stakeholders
24. Proficiency in analysis, modeling, and graphical abstraction techniques
25. Solid experience working within Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, or similar)
26. Fluent in English (spoken and written) — additional EU languages are a plus
