About the Role
We are seeking an experienced MEP Cost Estimator to join our global building design and engineering team. This role is critical in accurately forecasting and analyzing costs for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems across complex, large-scale projects. You will work closely with design managers, engineers, and technical consultants to ensure cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for MEP systems and assess design changes from a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) perspective.
* Analyze interactions between systems to determine overall cost impacts.
* Use CostX and other BIM-based tools for measurement and quantity take-offs.
* Maintain and update cost databases, track pricing trends, and assist with value engineering.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to communicate cost data clearly.
* Review drawings using AutoCAD and Bluebeam to measure and interpret HVAC layouts (e.g., linear measurements for ductwork, textile costs).
* Understand differences between Air-to-Air and Air-to-Water systems and their cost implications.
* Interpret and price firefighting systems, plumbing, and other MEP components.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
* Strong understanding of MEP systems and ability to visualize and interpret technical drawings.
* Proficiency in CostX, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
* Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to assess design changes and their financial impact.
* Knowledge of construction practices, building codes, and safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with large-scale or multi-phase projects.
* Familiarity with sustainability and green building cost considerations.
* Background in value engineering or cost optimization.
