Maintenance Technician – Contract (Fixed Term) Opportunity | Near Sint-Niklaas We are currently partnering with a well-known food manufacturing company to recruit an experienced Maintenance Technician for their production facility in Belgium. Location: Near Sint-Niklaas, Belgium Contract: Fixed Term due to seasonal demand Start Date: Immediate (Can Wait 3 weeks maximum) Market Rates on Offer Interviews being conducted next week The Role You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing production equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and supporting smooth, continuous operations within a food manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Mechanical troubleshooting and repair of conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, and drive systems Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults including 3-phase systems, sensors, and components Supporting automated systems including PLCs, HMIs, and variable speed drives Maintenance of pneumatic and hydraulic systems on production and packaging lines Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and responding quickly to breakdowns Using CMMS systems (e.G. SAP) to log work and manage maintenance activities Supporting continuous improvement initiatives (OEE, root cause analysis, 5 Whys) Food Safety & Compliance Working to HACCP standards and strict hygiene protocols Ensuring safe reassembly of equipment following cleaning and maintenance Adhering to lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and site safety standards Using food-grade materials and maintaining high levels of attention to detail Key Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician in food or FMCG manufacturing Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills Experience working with automated production equipment Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices Ability to work under pressure and respond to breakdowns efficiently Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team
