About the Role
We are seeking a freelance Data Developer / Data Engineer for a 12-month mission with our client, based in Gosselies. You'll join a high-impact Factory Data team, leveraging the latest Azure and Microsoft Fabric technologies to architect, transform, and optimize data flows that power business-critical decisions. This is a hybrid role: while remote work is possible, a minimum of two days per week on-site in Gosselies is required.

What You'll Be Doing
Designing and developing data ingestion flows using Fabric Data Factory and Azure Data Factory
Building and optimizing data transformation flows via Fabric Factory Notebooks, with a focus on cost efficiency in Azure
Contributing to Lake House modeling and implementing medallion architectures (silver & gold) in Microsoft Fabric
Establishing and automating unit test plans, monitoring and executing unit tests
Participating in effort estimation for development activities during project scoping
Writing clear, comprehensive technical documentation
Driving continuous improvement by contributing to development guidelines
Supporting maintenance and incident resolution in production environments
Technical Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Data Developer / Data Engineer
Proven expertise with open table formats (Delta, Iceberg)
Strong experience with cloud data tools (Azure, AWS, GCP) – at least 3 years
Hands-on experience with Spark (PySpark) – at least 4 years
Advanced Python programming skills
Proficiency in SQL & T-SQL
Deep knowledge of the Azure ecosystem
Experience with Microsoft Fabric ecosystem (minimum 6 months)
Solid understanding of Lake House principles and dimensional modeling
Proficiency with Git and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with Fabric Data Factory and/or Azure Data Factory
Experience with Synapse Spark, Fabric, or Databricks
Mastery of Azure Storage Account / OneLake principles
Certifications & Additional Skills
Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700) – should have
Azure Data Engineer (DP-203) – nice to have
Knowledge of best practices in security development and proven experience in their implementation – should have
Theoretical knowledge of UML modeling (Class diagram) – nice to have
Experience as a developer on SAP BO/DS platforms – nice to have
Effective experience in DAX and Power BI – nice to have
Language Proficiency
French: C2 (CEFR) – must have
English: B1 (CEFR) – should have
