Product Line Manager – Payment Acceptance

MISSION

The Product Line Manager (PLM) is responsible for the end-to-end performance, commercial success, and strategic evolution of a defined product line focused on payment acceptance solutions, including software platforms, testing solutions, and hardware products supporting payment devices and acceptance infrastructure.

The PLM defines the overall product line strategy, roadmap, pricing model, and lifecycle management, ensuring that the product line remains competitive, scalable, and aligned with business portfolio strategy and target market segments. The PLM acts as the bridge between market demand, product definition, and delivery execution, working cross-functionally with sales, presales, product owners, architecture, and portfolio teams.

The role also contributes to modernizing payment acceptance environments and enabling device vendors, merchants, and payment providers to adopt new technologies, certification standards, and acceptance capabilities.


ACTIVITIES


Customer and Market Insight

* Engage with customers, partners, and internal teams to understand market needs and gather product feedback.
* Translate customer requirements into structured product line requirements and repeatable use cases.
* Identify recurring demand patterns, market opportunities, and emerging payment acceptance technologies and industry trends.
* Provide insights to the Product Portfolio Team and contribute to segment offering development.


Product Line Strategy and Roadmap

* Define and maintain the vision, positioning, and value proposition of the product line.
* Manage a product line composed of multiple related products and capabilities supporting payment acceptance environments.
* Develop and maintain the product line roadmap, ensuring alignment with portfolio strategy and market priorities.
* Identify growth opportunities across device validation, acceptance testing, certification services, and supporting platforms.
* Manage the product lifecycle including launch, evolution, and retirement.


Product Line Leadership and Product Owner Alignment

* Provide strategic direction to Product Owners responsible for individual products within the product line.
* Ensure alignment between individual product roadmaps and the broader product line strategy.
* Guide Product Owners on feature prioritization, backlog alignment, and roadmap execution.
* Coordinate across products to ensure coherence, integration, and consistency within the product line.


Revenue Management and Pricing Strategy

* Own the commercial performance of the product line, including revenue growth, pricing strategy, and margin performance.
* Define pricing models, packaging strategies, and monetization approaches.
* Work with sales and finance teams to ensure pricing consistency and margin optimization.
* Monitor key indicators such as revenue contribution, adoption levels, and delivery efficiency.
* Support development of business cases for new product investments and product evolution initiatives.


Presales and Opportunity Support

* Partner with sales and presales teams during complex customer opportunities.
* Validate product capabilities and ensure alignment with customer requirements.
* Support solution framing and contribute to proposals when required.
* Ensure opportunities align with product capabilities, roadmap priorities, and commercial strategy.


Lifecycle and Performance Management

* Monitor product adoption, usage patterns, and customer feedback.
* Track key performance indicators including revenue growth, adoption, delivery efficiency, and margin performance.
* Identify improvement opportunities and drive continuous product evolution.
* Maintain the Business Unit product catalogue, including product definitions, pricing, and lifecycle status.


Governance and Portfolio Alignment

* Provide insights on industry standards, regulatory developments, and technology trends impacting the product line.
* Participate in market segment working groups and strategic discussions.
* Provide roadmap visibility to the Product Portfolio Team and contribute to portfolio reviews.
* Ensure alignment with portfolio frameworks, governance standards, and taxonomy.
* Support collaboration and opportunities across Business Units.


JOB EXPERIENCE

* 7–12 years of experience in product management, solution management, or technology leadership roles.
* Experience in the payments industry, particularly in payment acceptance environments, payment devices, or terminal ecosystems.
* Familiarity with stakeholders such as terminal vendors, merchants, payment service providers, and payment schemes.
* Experience managing complex product offerings composed of multiple products or modules.
* Experience working with cross-functional teams including engineering, delivery, architecture, and commercial teams.
* Experience supporting presales engagements and customer solution design.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS


Domain Expertise

* Understanding of payment acceptance architectures and device ecosystems.
* Knowledge of payment terminals, acceptance devices, and device certification processes.
* Familiarity with payment standards such as EMV, contactless, alternative payments at point of sales and related acceptance protocols.
* Understanding of the broader payments ecosystem, including merchants, PSPs, acquirers, and device vendors.


Product and Commercial Management

* Ability to define product strategy, roadmaps, and lifecycle plans across multiple related products.
* Strong capability to translate market needs into structured product requirements and offerings.
* Experience developing pricing strategies, product packaging, and monetization models.
* Ability to analyze product performance metrics, revenue indicators, and margin signals.


Collaboration and Leadership

* Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product Owners, delivery teams, architects, sales, presales and portfolio teams.
* Ability to influence stakeholders and align teams without direct authority.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.


Analytical and Strategic Thinking

* Ability to analyze market trends, customer adoption patterns, and product performance data.
* Strong problem-solving capabilities and data-driven decision making.
* Ability to identify opportunities for product innovation, revenue growth, and operational improvement.
