Responsabilities
The system architect defines the target architecture for a banking application/functional area and ensures it is fit for its intended purpose while being compliant with architecture standards.
The system architect is responsible for all applications across the full lifecycle in his area and looks at all aspects from business architecture down to infrastructure architecture.
System architecture:
Gain direct influence on the business vision by shaping the target architecture alongside product management and key stakeholders, ensuring your architectural decisions clearly translate into real business outcomes
Own end-to-end architectural design, giving you full accountability for technical coherence, long-term scalability, and design quality
Drive clarity and alignment by translating strategy into a concrete solution intent, with a visible roadmap, clear information models, and explicit dependencies that make complexity manageable
Build systems that scale by defining clear subsystem boundaries and interfaces, enabling cleaner integrations, easier deployments, and fewer downstream surprises
Anticipate future needs by designing and evolving the architectural runway, allowing teams to deliver new features faster without constant rework
Operate in a sustainable environment where architectural standards protect system stability, long-term maintainability, and technical credibility
Reduce long-term workload and operational risk by actively controlling application lifecycle and architectural debt, with transparency and the authority to prevent short-term trade-offs from becoming long-term problems
Planning:
Work at system and enterprise level to shape architectural approaches and capability roadmaps, giving you visibility and impact beyond a single product or team
Influence quarterly priorities by contributing directly to Qbrs and PI objectives, ensuring technical enablers are planned early rather than treated as afterthoughts
Create alignment across teams by consolidating technical insights into clear, shared PI objectives that reduce friction and conflicting directions
Enable teams to deliver effectively by helping structure features and stories in a way that preserves architectural intent while remaining execution-ready
Collaboration:
Act as a technical reference point by identifying risks between standards and innovation, and actively shaping robust, bank-wide architectural solutions
Strengthen decision-making by aligning stakeholders, customers, and partners around a shared architectural direction that supports both system intent and business priorities
Gain hands-on exposure to supplier ecosystems by ensuring externally delivered solutions integrate cleanly, with full control over technical quality and system consistency
