Job Description
We seek a motivated, skilled Manager to join our dynamic team at the European Steel Association (EUROFER). The ideal candidate will have a background in statistics, data analysis, database management, and the preparation of market reports for internal and external.
The person will join the department of Market Analysis and Economic Studies composed of four people and led by its Diector. The Manager will assist the directorate in supporting EUROFER members and other EUROFER departments – trade, climate & energy, stainless steel and public affairs with statistical information, economic analysis and reports.
The candidate will supervise and maintain the quality and integrity of the EUROFER database covering the carbon steel segment and will work closely with other departments to provide quantitative information.
The person will directly report to the Director of Market Analysis and Economic Studies.
General Tasks and Duties include
* Coordinate the continuous data collection, processing and exchange of statistics on all relevant parameters of the EU steel market, such as steel production, deliveries, imports and exports, consumption, as well as downstream steel-using sectors. The focus will be on the carbon steel industry segment.
* Work collaboratively with other departments to provide them with relevant statistical information which is supportive of their policies and strategies, and work on ad-hoc
* Drafting quarterly and monthly product-specific Market Reports and creating ad-hoc reports covering specific needs of the industry.
* Collaborate and provide input for the preparation and publication of EUROFER's annualnbrochure "European steel in figures".
* To continuously collaborate and cooperate with the EUROFER IT manager and with the members of the team managing the stainless steel and speciality steel industry segment for the maintenance and improvement of the EUROFER Database.
* To liaise with technical officers of the EU Commission and to collaborate with external legal or technical consultants on specific projects and ad-hoc requests.
Profile
The profile encompasses personal skills and professionally related interests, experience, and education.
Knowledge, Skills, Requirements And Qualifications
* Recommended academic background in data Science, Economics, Business Analytics or Statistics (Bachelor's or Master's Degree);
* Strong technical, statistical and analytical skills, specifically in relation to quantitative analysis;
* Experience in data management, drafting statistics and market reports;
* Knowledge of relevant statistical software would be an asset;
* Relevant experience (4-5 years) in a related position would also be an asset;
* Good organisational and communication skills are required;
* Good command of English (both spoken and written) is required;
* Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines;
* Creative thinker, analytical mindset, and attentive to the details, especially in preparing market reports, annual reports, and brochure for public dissemination;
* Ability to work independently and to take initiatives in consultation/agreement with the Director Market Analysis and Economic Studies;
* Ability to engage and integrate own activities in team-oriented
Location
The responsibilities of the manager can either be executed full-time in Brussels (Belgium) at the offices of EUROFER, Avenue de Cortenbergh 172, or in hybrid form, alternating between in-office presence and teleworking, to be agreed upon.
