European Plastics Converters (EuPC) is the EU-level trade association representing the
interests of plastics converting companies in Europe. Based in Brussels, EuPC brings
together national plastics associations and European sectoral organisations, representing
more than fifty thousands converting companies that supply plastic products into key value
chains such as packaging, building & construction, automotive & transport, and technical
parts.
EuPC’s mission is to provide a strong, united voice for plastics converters in EU policy
debates, advance the transition towards a circular and climate-neutral economy, and ensure

Role purpose
The Public Affairs Director leads EuPC’s political outreach and institutional engagement at
EU level, advancing the interests of the European plastics converting industry across core
policy files affecting polymers and their key end-use applications. The role is highly
externally oriented and requires a strong, established network across EU institutions,
Member State representations, and other European industry associations along the value
chain.
Key responsibilities
* EU institutional outreach and advocacy
* Drive high-level engagement with the European Commission, European Parliament, and Council/Member State representations, including cabinets, DGs, political groups, rapporteurs/shadows, and key attachés.
* Build and maintain long-term relationships with policymakers and opinion leaders; position EuPC as a credible, solution-oriented partner.
* Represent EuPC in external meetings, hearings, roundtables, conferences, and coalition settings; secure speaking opportunities and strategic visibility.
Policy positioning and stakeholder management
* Translate EuPC priorities into clear advocacy strategies, stakeholder maps, and engagement plans aligned with the Managing Director’s direction.
* Coordinate and deliver briefings, talking points, policy notes, amendment suggestions, and meeting readouts tailored to decision-makers.
* Shape cross-association alignment by building coalitions and joint positions with
* European and national associations, ensuring consistency and leverage.
* Monitor political developments and anticipate shifts in the EU agenda; provide actionable intelligence and recommendations to the Managing Director and internal governance.
Internal coordination and governance support
* Ensure effective two-way flow between advocacy and member priorities, coordinating with EuPC committees and the technical team as needed.
* Support the Managing Director in preparing high-level institutional engagements, strategic messaging, and executive-level stakeholder meetings.
Required experience and qualifications
* Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience in EU public affairs, including association management and/or public affairs consultancy at EU level.
* Demonstrated understanding of the polymer and plastics converting industry, including policy drivers and market dynamics across major end-use applications, with solid familiarity with EU regulatory files impacting packaging and adjacent value chains.
* Proven track record of direct engagement with EU institutions and political decision- makers, including successful delivery of advocacy outcomes.
* A well-established EU-level political network, plus strong working relationships with peer associations, coalitions, and key stakeholder platforms.
* Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Law, Political Science, European Studies, Public
* Policy, or a closely related field.
* Excellent command of English (additional EU languages are an asset).
* Experience in trade-related issues is a plus
