The Head of Accounting oversees the complete accounting cycle and consolidation for a portfolio across Europe. The role ensures accuracy, compliance, leadership, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Reporting
Oversee full accounting for entities.
Review and consolidate accounting from different countries.
Ensure compliance with Belgian GAAP and internal standards.
Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings for all the entities.
Supervise intercompany reconciliations and adjustments.
Lead and mentor a team of 4 accountants.
Maintain collaborative communication within the team.
Delegate effectively and build strong backup structures.
Consolidation & Process Improvement
Manage manual consolidation processes.
Drive the implementation of a consolidation system.
Redesign workflows, controls, and documentation.
Promote efficiency, automation, and quality.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with controlling, finance leadership, external accountants, auditors, and international teams.
Ensure clear communication across departments and countries.
Technical Leadership
SPV structures
Valuation mechanisms
Support strategic financial initiatives and transactions.
Candidate Profile
Experience
5–10 years experience in accounting, ideally in real estate development, construction, or similar project-based industries.
Experience managing SPV structures and complex group environments.
Solid team management experience.
Skills
Strong accounting technical expertise (Belgian GAAP).
Solid understanding of valuation, deal structuring, and consolidation principles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage change, redesign processes, and introduce automation.
High sense of ownership, accountability, and responsiveness.
Languages
Dutch is a plus.
