About iPify
iPify is a fast-growing technology company empowering intellectual property (IP) professionals globally with essential maintenance and validation services. We operate at the intersection of legal expertise and modern technology, streamlining complex processes such as patent renewals and EP validations for IP law firms and in-house departments.
iPify offers a unique opportunity to apply business finance and analytical skills in an international, detail-intensive model, with multi-currency flows and high operational volume. We value a flexible hybrid setup and clear career development for key team members.
Role overview
We are looking for a finance business partner / business analyst to work closely with the VP Finance, the VP Business Development and the managing directors, supporting leadership decisions through structured, high-quality ad hoc analyses and business cases.
This is not an accounting role (accounting is owned by the VP Finance). Your impact will come from helping the business and finance teams understand performance drivers, improving decision-making through market research, and strengthening data consistency across systems (CRM, finance ERP, business platform), with a strong focus on FX-sensitive flows.
Key responsibilities
1) Ad hoc business analysis
• Deliver decision-ready ad hoc analyses for leadership and operational teams (opportunities and market sizing, profitability drivers, pricing impacts, volume/mix effects, cost drivers, FX sensitivity).
• Build and challenge customer business cases (unit economics, margins, scenario assumptions, FX and operational sensitivities).
• Create scenario simulations to support strategic and commercial choices (pricing changes, supplier cost changes, growth assumptions, FX movements).
• Translate analyses into clear recommendations and quantified impact (what to do, why, expected outcome, key risks).
2) Monthly performance deviation analysis (business-focused, not closing)
• Implement a monthly analytical review to detect and explain deviations in business performance (not month-end closing activities), including pricing variances, FX rate application issues, operational process inefficiencies, and data quality gaps.
• Investigate root causes with relevant stakeholders and propose concrete improvement actions and monitoring points.
• Define practical checks and controls in the flow to prevent recurring issues and improve reliability of business insights.
3) Market research and competitor analysis
• Conduct structured market studies to support strategic and commercial decisions (market sizing, growth drivers, customer segments, geographic dynamics).
• Maintain competitor benchmarking on pricing approaches, positioning, product/service scope, and go-to-market signals; translate findings into implications for iPify's economics and business cases.
• Support leadership with targeted research memos and data-backed recommendations (e.g., pricing strategy inputs, packaging considerations, priority markets).
• Combine external insights with internal performance data to challenge assumptions and improve forecasting and scenario building.
4) FX and cash insights in a multi-currency environment
• Support FX exposure monitoring embedded in customer and supplier flows and highlight potential business impacts (margin volatility, customer profitability sensitivity).
• Contribute to FX-related analytical views (rate consistency checks, trend analysis, anomaly detection) in collaboration with the VP Finance.
• Provide targeted analyses to improve cash visibility (timing effects, collections patterns, key short-term drivers), without being the owner of the cash reporting framework.
5) Data coordination across systems (CRM, finance, business platform)
• Coordinate data consistency and definitions across Dynamics 365 CRM, finance systems (ERP), and the business platform to ensure reliable analyses.
• Improve data quality through simple governance: KPI definitions, ownership, reconciliation logic, and documentation of key fields and flows.
• Build lightweight analytical outputs and prototypes (Excel, BI tool) to answer specific business questions (not to run the full reporting suite).
• Support the implementation, maintenance, and evolution of customer and supplier pricing.
• Maintain pricing reference data and document pricing logic to enable accurate billing, margin analysis, and ad-hoc financial insights.
What this role is / is not
This role is: business finance partnering, ad hoc analysis, business cases, market/competitor insights, driver-based thinking, data coordination, operational insight.
This role is not: accounting, bookkeeping, AP/AR ownership, statutory reporting, month-end close ownership, management reporting ownership.
Required qualifications and experience
• Around 5 years of experience in business finance (FP&A, performance management, corporate finance), audit with strong analytical exposure, or strategy consulting with finance-heavy work.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in finance, business, economics, engineering, or a quantitative discipline.
• Strong ability to structure ambiguous problems, work with imperfect data, and deliver clear conclusions.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving, international environment; multi-currency exposure is a plus.
Tools and technical skills
• Advanced Excel (modeling, power query, pivots; macros are a plus).
• Experience with BI/analytics tools.
• Familiarity with ERP environments; Dynamics 365 Business Central / Navision is a strong asset.
• Strong data mindset: reconciliation logic, consistency checks, ability to navigate multiple sources.
Profile and soft skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic "get it done" mindset.
• Business curiosity and ability to connect numbers to operational reality and market context.
• Ability to coordinate stakeholders and align on definitions, data sources, and actions.
• Clear communicator who can synthesize findings for finance and non-finance audiences.
• High standards on accuracy, structure, and reliability.
