We are looking for a motivated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who will play a crucial role in driving operational excellence in our software development teams by ensuring the availability, performance and scalability of our production systems. You will work closely with one or potentially multiple software development teams to raise the bar in terms of their observability practice, enhance incident response capabilities and help reduce operational toil through automation.
Your role and responsibilities
1. Implement and manage the observability stack (metrics, logs, traces and alerts) to ensure optimal performance and availability
2. Analyze observability data to proactively identify performance bottlenecks and drive reliability improvements
3. Define, track and report on Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) for key services
4. Identify, develop and implement automation tools to reduce operational toil and improve system reliability
5. Conduct blameless incident postmortems and drive preventive measures
6. Collaborate with developers to improve service reliability through better design, testing, and deployment practices
7. Assist developers in troubleshooting complex issues by delving into the available observability data
8. Advocate for SRE best practices within the embedded team and contribute to wider company SRE initiatives
How to succeed / Your profile
9. Hands-on experience with managing and using monitoring tools (e.g. ELK, Grafana, Prometheus)
10. 3+ years of experience in a Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Systems Engineering role
11. Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI, Argo CD)
12. Experience with cloud platforms (preferably GCP)
13. Comfortable with at least one scripting language
14. Experience working in large, complex production environments
15. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
Bonus points
16. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible)
17. Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
18. Experience working with distributed systems
19. Familiarity with Java software development
