Your Role
As a Data Architect, you will play a central role in shaping, optimizing, and scaling our data ecosystem. You will be responsible for improving the performance, structure, and reliability of a Snowflake-based data environment, ensuring that data is delivered accurately, securely, and efficiently.
You will collaborate closely with internal teams to review and optimize complex, dynamically generated queries, redesign architectural components, and support both immediate performance improvements and long-term data strategy.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Languages: Fluent English (must have), Dutch is a strong plus
* 6+ years of experience in a relevant data architecture or performance engineering role within complex, large-scale environments
* Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or a closely related field
* Hands-on expertise with Snowflake in production settings
* Proven ability in advanced SQL tuning and query performance optimization
* Strong understanding of Snowflake-specific concepts
* Experience in AWS-integrated Snowflake environments
* Ability to identify, analyze, and optimize cost drivers in cloud data platforms
* Familiarity with query profiling tools and performance analysis methodologies
* Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical findings into clear insights for both technical and business stakeholders
* Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex data performance issues independently
* Proactive mindset, strong ownership, and collaborative approach
What You Will Do
* Identify the most expensive and slow-performing queries within the environment
* Evaluate and reduce costs associated with AWS-based Snowflake operations
* Review and refine Snowflake warehouse configurations, sizing, and scaling strategies
* Design and advise on data models, including clustering keys, caching approaches, and query structure improvements
* Document and implement quick wins that immediately improve performance and cost efficiency
* Collaborate with internal squads and stakeholders to ensure alignment on architectural decisions
* Write documentation, technical recommendations, and user stories for the development squad
* Ensure data accuracy, speed, and reliability in a legally sensitive operational application
* Contribute to data governance improvements, ensuring high-quality and consistently trusted data
