Freelance Financial Controller/Accountant Opportunity

What will your responsibilities be?

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities for the assigned legal entity.
• Prepare and analyse management reports, financial performance dashboards, and variance analyses.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
• Perform analytical accounting reviews and ensure accuracy of financial transactions.
• Monitor inventory movements, stock valuations, and purchase order flows.
• Reconcile stock, goods receipts, and supplier invoices, ensuring proper matching and resolution of discrepancies.
• Review balance sheet accounts and perform account reconciliations.
• Collaborate with operational teams to improve financial transparency and cost control.
• Support internal and external audit requests.
• Contribute to process improvements and strengthen financial controls within the organisation.
• Ensure compliance with group accounting policies and applicable reporting standards.
• Liaise with finance teams located across multiple European entities.

Requirements for the Candidate

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Finance, Controlling, Accounting, or related positions.
• Strong background in Financial Controlling combined with operational accounting responsibilities.
• Proven experience with analytical accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience working within international or multinational organisations.
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and engage with stakeholders at different levels.

Technologies

• Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling and data analysis.
• Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with reporting and BI tools is considered advantageous.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with IFRS reporting, particularly within international group structures.
• Exposure to inventory-intensive or manufacturing environments.
• Previous experience supporting Luxembourg-based entities.
• Knowledge of process optimisation and finance transformation initiatives.

Languages

• Professional proficiency in English and Dutch is required.
