Your main tasks & responsibilities
As head of Flight Operations, ultimately responsible to the Accountable Manager, you ensure a safe, regular, economical, and customer-oriented operation of the Brussels Airlines Shorthaul and Longhaul fleet. You take the prescribed training and operational standards developed in cooperation with the responsible functions of Brussels Airlines into account.
* Ensure safe, reliable, economical, and customer-oriented operation of the fleet and crew, in accordance with the conditions and restrictions of the Air Operator Certificate and applicable requirements.
* Act as deputy accountable manager for Brussels Airlines.
* Implement legal/air-traffic requirements as well as LH-Group standards.
* Lead all operation relevant preparation, negotiation, and closing of collective labor agreements and other agreements with unions under the leadership of the Human Resources department.
* Recruitment and management of the leadership team of cockpit and cabin crew members, including capacity planning and coordination with the Crew Rostering Department and Recruitment Department.
* Develop and align flight operation standards and processes with LH group departments; provide functional guidance to LH group shared services in AOC-relevant matters.
* Communicate with authorities, associations, and manufacturers, ensuring official occurrence reporting in accordance with (EU) No 376/2014.
* Manage regulatory approval processes for procedural changes and technical specifications related to flight operations.
* Participate in IRREG/crisis committees; serve as emergency director for Brussels Airlines crisis management.
* Implement KPI-based performance management and ensure effective information flow within operations and with other departments and interfaces.
* Identify and adopt emerging technologies and methodologies within the flight operations department.
* Provide leadership, coaching, and development for employees; lead through change and maintain emotional stability.
Your profile
* Active pilot with Flight Crew license ATPL (A).
* Minimum 10 years of experience in operational airline functions.
* Strong knowledge of EASA regulations, operational standards, and aviation safety practices.
* In-depth understanding of the aviation industry, including regulatory frameworks, market dynamics, and business models.
* Experience with safety and management systems, and a KPI-driven approach.
* Proven ability to lead and implement change projects.
* Excellent command of English; knowledge of Dutch and/or French is an asset.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Demonstrated leadership and team collaboration skills, with the ability to manage resistance and foster constructive feedback.
* Strategic and innovative mindset, with a focus on cost, quality, and customer satisfaction.
