to take charge of finance coordination, HR, and office operations at the
Greenpeace European Unit
in Brussels. This is a solo but strategic role in a small nonprofit team, ideal for someone who thrives in a generalist position and has a
strong grasp of budgeting and financial oversight, alongside people operations and organisational logistics. You will work with a high level of autonomy and trust, and have a clear mandate to strengthen internal systems and processes. The ideal candidate combines

practical office management skills — all rooted in Greenpeace’s mission and values. Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Oversight & Administration (Primary Focus)
Coordinate the organisation’s financial operations in collaboration with the external accountant and financial controller Prepare budgets and forecasts in support of strategic planning and reporting Oversee financial reporting for the Annual General Meeting and internal stakeholders Monitor the office bank account and ensure timely invoice payments and expense tracking Support audit preparation and ensure compliance with Belgian nonprofit financial regulations Liaise with external auditors and ensure timely submission of legal and financial documents 2. People & Culture (HR) Management
Manage day-to-day HR operations and serve as the primary contact for staff on HR matters Ensure compliance with Belgian labour law, including contracts, benefits, and employment policies Coordinate with the Social Secretariat for accurate payroll administration Lead recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes Promote a positive, inclusive, and values-aligned workplace culture Engage in respectful, constructive dialogue with staff union representatives 3. Office & Operations Management
Oversee the smooth running of the EUU office: facilities, supplies, and vendor relations Ensure Health & Safety compliance, including First Aid coordination and building policies Maintain a functional and welcoming workspace Handle general communications inbox and reception duties Ensure compliance with administrative obligations under Belgian nonprofit law 4. Process & Systems Improvement
Assess and improve internal systems and workflows across finance, HR, and operations Champion user-friendly, digital tools that increase team efficiency and reduce admin burdens Safeguard confidentiality and data integrity in all internal processes Skills & Experience Required
At least 3 years’ experience in finance coordination, HR, or office management roles Strong understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and nonprofit finance practices Familiarity with Belgian labour law, nonprofit legal frameworks, and social dialogue practices Experience working with trade unions or staff representation structures Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to self-manage Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Full professional fluency in English (working language), and working proficiency in Dutch or French Comfortable with IT systems and digital tools for admin and HR/finance Experience working in NGOs, international teams, or values-based organisations Training in inclusive HR practices, EDI, or organisational development What We Offer
