This is a solo but strategic role in a small nonprofit team, ideal for someone who thrives in a generalist position and has a strong grasp of budgeting and financial oversight, alongside people operations and organisational logistics.
You will work with a high level of autonomy and trust, and have a clear mandate to strengthen internal systems and processes. The ideal candidate combines financial insight, people-centred HR experience, and practical office management skills — all rooted in Greenpeace’s mission and values.

Prepare budgets and forecasts in support of strategic planning and reporting
Oversee financial reporting for the Annual General Meeting and internal stakeholders
Monitor the office bank account and ensure timely invoice payments and expense tracking
Support audit preparation and ensure compliance with Belgian nonprofit financial regulations
Liaise with external auditors and ensure timely submission of legal and financial documents
2. People & Culture (HR) Management Manage day-to-day HR operations and serve as the primary contact for staff on HR matters
Ensure compliance with Belgian labour law, including contracts, benefits, and employment policies
Coordinate with the Social Secretariat for accurate payroll administration
Lead recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes
Promote a positive, inclusive, and values-aligned workplace culture
Engage in respectful, constructive dialogue with staff union representatives
3. Office & Operations Management Oversee the smooth running of the EUU office: facilities, supplies, and vendor relations
Ensure Health & Safety compliance, including First Aid coordination and building policies
Maintain a functional and welcoming workspace
Handle general communications inbox and reception duties
Ensure compliance with administrative obligations under Belgian nonprofit law
4. Process & Systems Improvement Assess and improve internal systems and workflows across finance, HR, and operations
Champion user-friendly, digital tools that increase team efficiency and reduce admin burdens
Safeguard confidentiality and data integrity in all internal processes
Skills & Experience Required At least 3 years’ experience in finance coordination, HR, or office management roles
Strong understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and nonprofit finance practices
Familiarity with Belgian labour law, nonprofit legal frameworks, and social dialogue practices
Experience working with trade unions or staff representation structures
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to self-manage
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Full professional fluency in English (working language), and working proficiency in Dutch or French
Comfortable with IT systems and digital tools for admin and HR/finance
Experience working in NGOs, international teams, or values-based organisations
Training in inclusive HR practices, EDI, or organisational development
What We Offer A meaningful, strategic role in a respected international environmental organisation
The opportunity to shape internal culture and systems for greater impact
A friendly, purpose-driven team based in Brussels and connected across Europe
Monthly gross salary between €4,262.6 and €5,353 (FTE), depending on experience
Excellent NGO benefits: pension, health insurance, meal vouchers, public transport allowance, generous leave
