Job description Context Collective.work is building an AI agent that automates recruiting workflows—from sourcing and screening to outreach and coordination. Our mission is to shift repetitive recruiting work from humans to software, enabling faster, higher-quality hiring. We operate at the intersection of: HR tech ($20B market) AI agents Workflow automation Missions Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Python Develop APIs and services powering the product and frontend Build systems for AI-driven workflows (matching, scoring, automation) Integrate with third-party platforms (ATS, CRM, data providers) Ensure performance, reliability, and security of backend systems Collaborate closely with frontend, data, and product teams Contribute to architecture decisions and technical roadmap Tools & Environment Python Backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Django APIs (REST, GraphQL) Databases (SQL/NoSQL) Cloud environments and scalable architectures Async processing, queues, or event-driven systems (bonus) AI/ML pipelines or LLM-based systems (bonus) SaaS tool integrations (e.g., HubSpot) (bonus) Working Conditions Location: Brussels (hybrid: remote in-person) Compensation: Competitive salary equity Start: ASAP Requirements 3–6 years experience in backend development Strong proficiency in Python Experience building APIs (REST, GraphQL) Familiarity with backend frameworks (e.g. FastAPI, Django ) Solid understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and system design Experience with cloud environments and scalable architectures Interest in AI/ML systems and data-driven products Based in or near Brussels, open to hybrid work Bonus: Experience with async processing, queues, or event-driven systems Bonus: Familiarity with AI/ML pipelines or LLM-based systems Bonus: Experience integrating with SaaS tools (e.g. HubSpot) Bonus: Exposure to high-growth startup environments
