Research, analyze, propose, design and deliver fit-for-purpose solution architectures across business functions/processes and technical domains – more specifically:
1. Identify technical innovation opportunities drawing on inputs from product squads, suppliers, vendors and external thought leaders.
2. Coordinate the effort to analyze systems and recommend appropriate technology and design decisions required to support solution goals.
3. Guard the quality of, and adherence to, the overall solution design of several related products, as delivered by internal or external teams.
4. Guard the health of the products’ common platforms – ensuring reuse and redesign where needed, proper capacity sizing and respecting limits of cloud platforms.
5. Ensure compliance with internal and external processes throughout the implementation process.
The role will report to the Lead Solution Architect and work together with several product squads and Enterprise Architects.
Accountabilities
1. Communication / Collaboration
6. Serve as the contact point for all technology shaping requests in a business domain.
7. Provide education to team members on solution architecture directions and goals.
8. Evaluate & communicate impacts of architectural decisions (technology selection, design).
9. Review assigned teams’ architectural efforts, utilising cross-functional knowledge (strategy & vision, change management and business process management) for project implementation.
2. Architecture Development & Implementation
10. Lead effort to identify and analyse business drivers to derive business, information, application, infrastructure, and security architecture requirements;
11. Develop architecture approach for all applicable layers of a solution;
12. Lead effort to work with business users, enterprise architect and application developers to develop the overall solution architecture;
13. Assist in the development of architectural best practices and standards, including template definitions;
14. Provide leadership and technical guidance to solution architects at suppliers;
15. Promote & leverage use of solution architecture standards, policies, and procedures across development in projects and programs;
16. Review the deliverables throughout the development cycle to ensure quality and traceability to requirements and adherence to all quality management plans and standards.
3. Architecture Analysis and Consultation
17. Lead effort to review and provide input on proposals from an architectural perspective, including feasibility, practicality, technical viability, and consistency;
18. Assess and recommend infrastructure and technical solutions for upgrades to meet business needs.
Qualifications & Experience
19. Master computer science degree (or equivalent through experience)
20. Demonstrable experience in designing custom, complex enterprise solutions across various architecture domains
21. Knowledge of solution architecture discipline, processes, concepts and best practices.
22. Understanding of IT industry trends, enterprise standards and methodology
23. Experience of structuring and facilitating the process of innovation within an IT function
24. Understanding of solution lifecycle, and usage of agile and waterfall delivery methodologies
25. Experience of working with development toolsets and frameworks (e.g. Jenkins, Git, Jira)
26. Considered an advantage: demonstrable experience of working with Salesforce, SAP, Azure, and integration technologies.
