Position: Energy Trading & Hedging Strategy Lead

Who are we recruiting for:
We are supporting a leading European renewable energy platform with a diversified portfolio of wind, solar, and battery storage assets across several European markets. As the company continues scaling its commercial and asset management platform, they are strengthening their commercial optimisation and portfolio strategy capabilities.
What will you be doing:
* Lead the design and execution of portfolio optimisation and hedging strategies across European power markets, with clear ownership of exposure and performance.
* Manage and optimise market positions across delivery horizons, ensuring alignment with defined risk appetite and commercial objectives.
* Work closely with commercial origination teams to structure, price and evaluate PPAs and other long-term offtake agreements.
* Develop and maintain centralised valuation, pricing and commercial modelling frameworks to support investment and contracting decisions.
* Partner with Trading and Risk functions to enhance hedge execution, exposure monitoring and risk governance.
* Monitor electricity market developments, regulatory changes and forward curve dynamics to inform commercial strategy.
* Oversee Guarantees of Origin (GOs) and environmental products strategy within the portfolio.
* Define portfolio performance KPIs and implement robust reporting and monitoring processes for senior management.
Are you the ideal candidate?
* 5+ years’ experience in energy trading, portfolio management or energy risk management, with exposure to commercial PnL environments.
* Strong understanding of European power markets, renewable energy commercialisation and hedging instruments.
* Proven experience executing hedging strategies and managing market exposure.
* Experience structuring and pricing PPAs and managing merchant exposure is highly desirable.
* Solid analytical capability, with the ability to translate quantitative analysis into clear commercial recommendations.
* Experience working within defined risk frameworks and governance structures.
* Proficiency in Python, R, SQL or similar data tools is advantageous but not essential.
* Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Physical Sciences or related disciplines.
* Fluent English required; additional European languages are a plus.
