Overview
Cegeka is looking for a Senior Linux / Open Systems Engineer with strong expertise in container platforms and DevSecOps environments to support projects within the Flemish Government framework contract.
You will work on technically challenging Linux and container-based environments, delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions while collaborating closely with clients and engineering teams. This role combines deep technical expertise, customer interaction, and knowledge sharing within a modern Open Systems ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
* Implement, configure, and maintain Linux/Open Systems environments
* Work with container platforms such as Kubernetes and OpenShift
* Support Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization environments
* Apply DevSecOps principles and CNCF tooling in enterprise environments
* Automate infrastructure and deployment processes using tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform, and GitHub
* Provide technical support throughout the full lifecycle (installation, configuration, upgrades, maintenance)
* Collaborate with clients and internal engineering teams to deliver reliable solutions
* Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and mentoring colleagues
* Proactively identify opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement
Requirements
* Minimum 6 years of experience as a System Engineer in an Open Systems environment
* Strong expertise with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
* Extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes and OpenShift
* Experience with Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization
* Solid knowledge of DevSecOps principles and CNCF tooling
* Practical experience with Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform, GitHub, and related automation tools
* Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
* Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within teams
* Bachelor's or Master's degree
* Fluent in Dutch and English
* Willingness to work on-site in Brussels 1–2 days per week

* Experience working in enterprise or government environments
* Knowledge of infrastructure automation and CI/CD best practices
* Experience mentoring or coaching technical colleagues

* Full-time assignment
* Hybrid working model (1–2 days on-site in Brussels near North Station)
* Initial contract until December 2026 with possible extension
