Freelance automation engineer

Verhaert Consulting is currently supporting a leading international engineering and technology company in the search for an experienced Freelance Automation Engineer.

This assignment offers the opportunity to work on complex industrial automation projects within a highly technical environment, contributing to the development, implementation, validation, and optimization of software solutions used in advanced production and process systems.

Your Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, test, install, and maintain automation software solutions.
• Prepare software validation and documentation packages in accordance with quality standards.
• Act as the technical reference point for software-related topics throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders.
• Ensure projects are delivered according to quality, cost, and planning objectives.
• Support troubleshooting, commissioning, and continuous improvement activities.
• Contribute to the standardization and optimization of software development practices.

Your Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Automation, Software Engineering, or equivalent through experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial automation and software development.
• Strong expertise with:
• Siemens TIA Portal
• SCL, STL and LAD programming languages
• SQL databases
• .NET development
• Experience with Schneider Drives is considered a strong asset.
• Solid understanding of industrial automation architectures and software validation.
• Fluent in English.
• Knowledge of Dutch is an advantage.
• Living within approximately 45 minutes of Halle or willing to commute regularly.
