Corporate PR Director, EU Communications

Spencer Recruitment is working on behalf of a global consumer-facing business to appoint a senior communications professional to lead EU-facing communications from Brussels.
This is a high-profile role for someone who understands the EU policy and regulatory environment and can translate complex issues into clear, credible external messaging. The position will sit at the intersection of corporate communications, public affairs and reputation management, supporting engagement with policymakers, media and other key stakeholders across Europe.
The successful candidate will act as a senior communications adviser on sensitive and high-stakes issues, working closely with government relations and wider leadership teams. This role will suit someone comfortable operating in a fast-moving, heavily scrutinised environment, with strong judgement and the ability to shape public narrative at European level.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead the organisation’s EU communications strategy, aligned to broader corporate priorities
* Develop clear external narratives on policy, corporate and reputational issues
* Support engagement with EU policymakers, media and wider stakeholders
* Partner closely with government relations and internal leadership teams
* Provide senior counsel on complex and sensitive communications matters
* Support and manage relevant media relations activity across Europe
* Act as a spokesperson where required
Candidate profile:
* 10+ years’ experience in corporate communications, public affairs, policy communications or a related field
* Strong understanding of EU institutions, legislative processes and the Brussels environment
* Experience advising on complex, high-profile or reputationally sensitive issues
* Strong writing and messaging skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics
* Excellent media handling skills, ideally with European and international outlets
* Fluent English essential; French or another European language would be an advantage
