System Engineer – Optical & Vision SystemsHasselt, Belgium (Hybrid)Full time (Permanent)The Opportunity:We are working with an innovative engineering company operating within advanced industrial technology, developing high-performance inspection and detection systems used across global markets.They are looking for a System Engineer to take ownership of optical and imaging systems within a multidisciplinary R&D environment.This is a key role where you’ll contribute to next-generation technology development and play a central part in driving innovation.The Role:As a System Engineer, you will act as the internal expert for optics, lighting, and detection systems, working closely with teams across software, electronics, mechanics, and applications.Key Responsibilities:Design and model optical systems (lighting, sensors, camera setups)Perform simulations, ray tracing, and optical calculationsDefine and execute validation and test plansSelect and evaluate components, suppliers, and technologiesDocument designs, analysis, and performance resultsExplore emerging technologies within optics, photonics, and machine visionContribute to new concept development and innovation projectsWork closely with cross-functional engineering teamsSupport internal stakeholders with technical expertiseContribute to design reviews and product development discussionsYour Profile:Master’s degree in Optics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or related fieldExperience with optical design tools (e.G. Zemax, TracePro, LightTools)Strong understanding of imaging systems, lighting, and spectral analysisSolid background in simulations, ray tracing, and tolerance analysisExperience with optical measurement equipment is advantageousExposure to machine vision, lasers, or hyperspectral imaging is a plusBasic CAD knowledge (e.G.
