As the Director, System Architecture Development & MBSE, you will lead a high performing global architecture capability by developing talent, driving technical excellence, and enabling strong cross functional collaboration. You will define and deliver end to end system architectures, manage key interfaces, and contribute to a multi year roadmap aligned with Cochlear's platform and product strategies.
You will modernize and advance the discipline by integrating architecture into core development processes, championing model based methodologies (MBSE/MBPLE) and toolchains, uplifting organisational capability, and ensuring compliance with regulatory, cybersecurity, and quality standards.
As a key member of the System Architecture Leadership Team, you will shape strategic direction, maintain architectural excellence, strengthen enterprise wide mechanisms, and represent Cochlear externally as a leader in hearing technology innovation.
Responsibilities include yet are not limited to:
Build System Architecture Capability & Technical Excellence
* Lead, develop, and mentor a high performing team of Systems Architects.
* Champion technical excellence through strong standards, innovation, and robust design.
* Foster global collaboration, creativity, IP generation, and continuous learning.
* Ensure the right tools, methods, and engineering capabilities are in place.
* Attract and retain top System Architecture talent.
Deliver End-to-End System Architecture
* Own and maintain Level 1 & Level 2 system architectures across product platforms.
* Lead the development of future architectures for embedded platforms and product families.
* Maintain a multi year architecture roadmap aligned to business and R&D strategy.
* Drive architecture governance for alignment, transparency, and timely decision making.
* Ensure compliance with QMS, regulatory, safety, and cybersecurity standards.
* Support lifecycle engineering and contribute to Cochlear's IP protection.
* Build strong internal and external partnerships to embed best practice architecture.
Advance the System Architecture Discipline
* Embed architecture practices into platform and product development.
* Drive adoption of (Model-Based Systems Engineering Modeling) MBSE/MBPLE, advanced modelling, simulation, and AI enabled methods.
* Own the MBSE/MBPLE toolchain strategy (Cameo/MagicDraw, Jama, Pure::Variants).
* Keep the discipline current with evolving methods and technologies.
* Uplift R&D teams through training and capability development.
System Architecture Leadership Team Member
* Contribute to strategic leadership of the global architecture function.
* Partner with peers to enable enterprise aligned decisions and high quality execution.
* Strengthen architecture capabilities to support growth and diversification.
* Represent Cochlear externally to enhance our visibility and leadership in hearing technology.

To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
* Extensive (10+ years) experience in Systems Architecture for complex embedded or electromechanical systems.
* Proven leadership experience building teams and developing architecture capability.
* Strong background in MBSE, MBPLE, and toolchains such as Cameo/MagicDraw, Jama, and Pure::Variants.
* Deep experience in architecture governance, interface definition, platform roadmapping, and system of systems complexity.
* Solid understanding of regulatory and quality frameworks (ISO 13485, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, cybersecurity).
* Exceptional stakeholder management, decision making, and communication skills.
