Join UPS as an EMEA VAT Advisory Manager and help lead our EMEA Indirect Tax Department from our European Headquarters in Brussels (Belgium) or Global Business Center in Wroclaw (Poland). Key Responsibilities Provide Expert Advisory Offer guidance on the VAT implications of business transactions, projects, and new business scenarios to internal teams or external clients. Stay abreast of changes in VAT legislation globally and in relevant jurisdictions, ensuring timely implementation of these changes to maintain compliance. Advise on cross‑border transactions, supply chain structuring, and VAT recovery issues. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure clients meet their VAT obligations and stay updated with changes in legislation. Identify, assess, and manage VAT risks associated with business operations and transactions, implementing strategies to mitigate them. Act as a primary point of contact with VAT authorities for audits, enquiries, and routine communications. Project Management Lead and manage VAT advisory projects from scoping through to delivery. Coordinate other Indirect Tax teams on VAT rules and implications. Prepare and review internal procedures, memos, and correspondence. Tax Planning & Optimization Advise on potential tax planning opportunities and VAT optimizations within the legal framework to maximize efficiencies and minimize liabilities. Client & Stakeholder Management Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, business stakeholders, and other tax professionals. Prepare and provide technical support and VAT training to other business partners. Qualifications Education: Master’s degree in economics, economic sciences, law and/or taxation. Experience: 7‑10 years of work experience in the VAT consultancy department of a Big4 company. Skills Strong Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of VAT legislation and case law, both domestically and internationally. Analytical Skills: Ability to conduct in‑depth VAT analysis, interpret complex scenarios, and develop actionable solutions. Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various departments. Project Management: Ability to manage multiple complex projects, often with cross‑border elements. Problem‑Solving: A proactive and methodical approach to identifying and resolving VAT‑related issues. Independence: Ability to work independently within strict deadlines with a hands‑on mentality, balancing multiple projects simultaneously. Language: Fluent in English (verbal and written); any other language is an asset. Desirable Experience with ERP systems (Oracle) and VAT automation tools. Knowledge of customs duties or other indirect taxes. Experience dealing with tax authorities and litigation support.
