IT Lead Technical Engineer

As an employee of AXA Belgium, the role will focus on leading the technical aspects of the Corporate Sales domain and contributing to the transformation program for the commercial lines applications.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with Epic Manager, Solution Architect, Requirement Engineers, System Analysts, and BAs.
Code Leadership & Quality – Write clean, well‑documented code; establish coding standards; conduct code reviews; mentor junior developers.
Cross‑Functional Coordination – Act as a bridge between development teams, product managers, and business stakeholders; translate technical constraints.
Dependency Management – Identify, document, and manage technical dependencies with other teams; coordinate integration points and release schedules.
Problem‑Solving & Troubleshooting – Lead investigation and resolution of complex technical issues; provide expert guidance when blockers arise.
Stakeholder Communication – Update technical progress, risks, and timelines to IT leadership and stakeholders; ensure transparency.
Best Practices & Innovation – Stay current with technology trends; propose improvements; drive adoption of new solutions.
Delivery Accountability – Take ownership of assigned features/modules; ensure timely delivery while maintaining quality and managing scope.
Be adaptable – Step in and support the team when required, even beyond usual responsibilities.
Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
Experience in complex technical or functional environments is a plus.
Proficiency in end‑to‑end process analysis and implementation.
Experience in banking or insurance domains is a plus.
Strong analytical mindset, proactive, good communication skills, and willingness to lead.
Knowledge and expertise in application design, data management, business rules, process modeling.
Full stack (Angular front‑end, Java back‑end) is a plus, but highly skilled in either front‑end or back‑end with eagerness to learn the other.
Front‑End Skills – Angular framework, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, state management (Signals, RxJS, NgRx), unit testing (Jasmine/Karma), E2E testing (Playwright, Protractor), RESTful APIs.
Back‑End Skills – Java 17+, Spring Boot/MVC/Data, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Maven, Git, Hibernate, OAuth2/JWT, secure REST APIs.
Version Control – Git, branching strategies, code review workflows.
CI/CD – Automation pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps), build tools (Maven, Gradle, Webpack, NPM, Angular CLI).
API Integration & Documentation – Swagger/OpenAPI.
Performance Optimization – Front‑end and back‑end tuning.
Fluent in English and at least one other national language (Dutch/French).
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
