Description de l'offre

WHO WE ARE
Médecins du Monde/Doctors of the World is an international medical development NGO forming part of an international network. We provide medical assistance to vulnerable groups in Belgium and the rest of the world.

We aim for universal health coverage, where everyone has access to healthcare, without barriers (financial, cultural, geographical, etc.).

In Belgium and around the world, our projects are aimed at all those who have no, or no longer any, access to healthcare. In particular, they are structured around five axes: people on the margins of society (homeless people, undocumented migrants, drug users, sex workers, etc.); children in vulnerable situations; women (supported in their fight for equality or against sexual violence, for example); migrant or displaced people and victims of crisis or conflict.

Our mission is based on three pillars:

* Care: giving people real access to healthcare.
* Change: more than just helping, we want to make a difference in the long term.
* Bearing witness: we don't remain silent. Thanks to our experience and presence in the field, we challenge the authorities (local, regional and (inter)national) with facts, figures and realities.
Our projects follow a set of values shared by our entire organization: Social Justice, Empowerment, Independence, Commitment, Balance.

BACKGROUND
MdM's Avec Elles project works to achieve effective access to healthcare, with a particular focus on women who are particularly vulnerable because of their gender. Its aim is to reach out to women to discuss issues related to access to healthcare, as well as themes linked to health promotion, in order to improve their level of knowledge and universal skills, with a view to empowerment.
The "Avec Elles" project proposes activities specifically for women through Médecins du Monde's various projects in Brussels (emergency shelter, Caso, Médibus and Hub Humanitaire). Through this project, we want to work on the following axes:
- Offer information and health education sessions in social settings for target audiences.
- Promoting women's autonomy in terms of health and access to healthcare.

THE ESSENTIAL
The people targeted by the Avec Elles project are women living in precarious situations in the Brussels area, in particular: women with no income and/or who are homeless; new immigrant women; women who are victims of gender-based violence; undocumented women; illegal workers; sex workers.

The aim is to set up health awareness sessions in places where the targeted women socialize (social restaurants, shelters, literacy schools and other associations).

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The aim of the health outreach worker's job is to meet and establish links with the women we meet in various places (women's space at Médibus, discussion groups in emergency shelters, day centers or waiting rooms), to offer them active listening, taking into account their requests and needs. Based on these findings, preparatory meetings will be held to organize discussion groups and themed events in collaboration with the project's employees and partners. Discussion groups will always be organized in pairs with another volunteer.
Pedagogical tools and information materials will be made available. What's more, you can count on the support of a salaried team to help and guide you on questions and themes. Training courses will also be organized to equip you for your volunteer work.
