Learn more: https://www.Wsbi-esbg.OrgAbout the RoleThe Advisor for the African Region plays a key role in strengthening WSBI’s presence and impact across Africa. The Advisor will support the development of a robust and influential Regional Group, expand the membership base, and build strong relationships among WSBI members in Africa while promoting connections with other regions.The position involves advocating for the institutional interests of regional members and highlighting their social and economic contributions as retail and savings banks. This role requires a high level of autonomy, creativity, initiative, and adaptability.Key ResponsibilitiesRelationship ManagementManage institutional relations with WSBI members in the African region.Understand members' needs and develop initiatives to address them.Ensure that all activities are relevant, visible, and effectively communicated.Maintain regular and transparent communication with members to collect feedback, suggestions, and long-term priorities.Stakeholder EngagementBuild and maintain relationships with regional partners and stakeholders.Represent WSBI at relevant regional events and associations.Co-organize events and activities that create added value for members.Knowledge Sharing & IntelligenceProduce and distribute reports and newsletters on ESG, market, regulatory, and geopolitical developments.Ensure that shared information is timely, relevant, and useful to members’ operations.Strategic AdviceAdvise WSBI management on activities and engagement strategies in the region.Support the expansion of WSBI membership in Africa and beyond.ESG & CSRSupport members in their ESG journeys and sustainability strategies.Provide proactive input on ESG reporting and integration.Membership DevelopmentDevelop and implement strategies to expand WSBI membership across the African region.Cross-Regional & Organizational SupportContribute to the organization of WSBI-ESBG annual and special events (e.G., Congresses, Committees, General Assembly, Board Meetings).Prepare presentations, reports, and meeting materials.Organize and coordinate cross-regional activities and study visits as required.International AdvocacyContribute to position papers and represent WSBI in international advocacy forums.World Savings DayCoordinate, plan, and promote World Savings Day activities in the region.Communication & PublicationsGather intelligence on developments in African banking and share insights with members.Contribute to WSBI newsletters, Financial News & Views, website, and other communication materials. Required Skills and CompetencesEducationUniversity degree in Economics, Law, International Relations, or a related field.ExperienceAt least 2 years of experience in an international and/or financial member-based organization.Sound understanding of the African region is essential.Banking experience is not mandatory but knowledge of financial services and regional banking issues is desirable.Experience in public relations, event organization, or communications is an advantage.LanguagesNear-native English proficiency (spoken and written) is required.Fluency in French is essential.Knowledge of other languages is an asset.SkillsStrong analytical and synthesis skills.Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills.Team player with a proactive, open-minded, and flexible attitude.Strong communication and presentation abilities.Diplomatic and culturally sensitive approach.Able to work independently with discretion and professionalism.Genuine interest in financial inclusion, development, and cross-cultural collaboration.IT SkillsExcellent command of the Microsoft Office Suite.Familiarity with CRM systems is desirable.
