Your mission
As Senior Engineer Fuel & Neutronics in our Nuclear department, you will contribute to our mission daily by joining the Core and Fuel Studies Group within the “Nuclear Processes" Competence Centre. This group is responsible for activities related to the fuel cycle, core design, fuel safety evaluation, and core exploitation support for nuclear reactors for the Belgian Utility.
The group is subdivided into three operational subgroups, each under the responsibility of a subgroup leader:
1. Cycles Studies, including Cycle Studies activities
2. Neutronic studies & Tools: including activities related to Criticality, Shielding, Activation, Residual Heat
3. Core Multiphysics, Methods & Support
Your key responsibilities
In the Core and Fuel group, you will be responsible for core and fuel physics studies and related developments in Fuel and/or neutronics and/or core Multiphysics.
The main tasks include:
* Engineering studies in core and fuel physics using industry-standard methods and simulation tools;
* Providing expertise and participating in the development of core and fuel activities, including fuel behaviour, core neutronics, and thermal-hydraulics, with multiphysics approaches;
* Ensuring technical coordination across various expert areas and participating in drafting calls for tenders;
* Providing training on various areas of expertise;
* Regularly reporting to the Group Manager on all aspects of the relevant domain.
We would love to hear from people with
* A background as civil or industrial engineer, specialized in nuclear energy, physics, electromechanics, or a B.Sc. in physics.
* Experience of 5-10 years in nuclear fuel and core physics.
* An interest in broadening technical competencies across core physics disciplines.
* Expertise in SMR, Gen 4 reactors, fast reactors is an asset.
