The Daughters for Life Foundation (DFL) is a Canadian-registered charity committed to providing accessible education opportunities for young women from the Middle East. Founded in 2010 by Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, DFL aims to empower girls and young women through education, enabling them to become voices of equality, leaders of development, and agents of change in their communities.

In 2021, DFL Europe was established in Brussels to expand the foundation’s mission within Belgium and Europe. DFL Europe, registered as a non-profit organization under Belgian law, focuses on developing partnerships with Belgian and European academic institutions and creating support systems for scholars.

Since its inception, DFLE has supported 12 women from the Middle East through fully funded scholarships. Ten pursued master’s degrees, two are undergraduate students, and several have already graduated. New scholars are expected to join in Fall 2025.

DFLE partners with several institutions across Belgium, including KU Leuven, University of Antwerp, Ghent University, Université libre de Bruxelles, and Vrije Universiteit Brussel. The foundation aims to expand these activities further across Europe.
