Sphere Defense is a fully funded technology startup with the mission of providing allied countries with sovereign, effective and seamless autonomous countermeasures to neutralize todays' and tomorrow's aerial threats.
Sphere Defense was founded by industry veterans with previous successful exits, and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, in the heart of Europe.
About you
You are an experienced and highly-motivated
R&D Laboratory Technician
that has worked with prototyping and assembling electronics and electro-mechanical products. Ideally, you have worked closely with design engineers in a technically-driven organization.
What you'll do
* Set-up a brand-new R&D laboratory together with the engineering teams
* Use your hands-on skills to assemble and repair R&D prototypes and pilot builds
* Advise the engineering teams on the assembly and repairability process
* Organize and maintain the lab tidy and in order

Onsite in Brussels, Belgium
Requirements
* Technical high-school diploma or equivalent
* Demonstrable experience in the role in a technical organization
* Excellent hands-on abilities in the field of electronics, cabling, mechanical assembly
* Experience with soldering, assembling and repairing electronic boards
* Knowledge and attention of ESD issues and familiarity with common lab tools (DMM, etc.)
* Proficient with soldering and rework of PCBAs with fine pitch components (QFN, BGA)
* Familiar with crimping and cabling
* Knowledge of 3D printing and ability to design simple components to help your job
* Experience with organizing and maintaining an R&D laboratory
* You are a self-starter, able to work in a high-ambiguity environment and willing to take up new challenges
* Good written and spoken English, French or Dutch is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
* Ideally, proficient in one or more of the following: CNC or lathe CAM operation, operation of test jigs
* Experience providing design teams with feedback on their products in terms of ease of assembly
* You have experience and passionate about piloting drones or RC planes

Our interview process
1. Interview with our recruiter (30 minutes)
2. Technical interview with our CTO (75 minutes)
3. Culture-add interview with our founders (1 hour)
4. Prior to receiving an offer of employment, we will need to conduct a light background check
