We are looking for a Tech Lead Full Stack, someone who stays hands-on across the entire stack, from JVM internals to modern UI patterns. We need a systems thinker who doesn't just see "tasks," but understands how data flows from the database to the patient's screen. You will combine technical excellence with a genuine talent for helping others grow.
In this role, you will work with a dedicated team of R&D engineers on products with real world impact. Helena and Helena Pro products empower more than 1 million patients and healthcare professionals. Together with our product team you'll be ensuring a robust, end-to-end architecture and translating functional needs into elegant, sustainable solutions that impact patients and healthcare professionals throughout Belgium and Europe.
Challenge
* Technical Strategy & Implementation: Drive a full-stack team by overseeing both Java/Spring Boot and React/TypeScript development. You will safeguard the architecture, clarify the long-term vision, and ensure the stack remains cohesive and modern.
* Mentorship & Coaching: Actively share knowledge across the full development lifecycle. You'll mentor engineers to help them grow their technical skills. Through your drive for continous improvement, you'll impact the way of working and question the status quo.
* Solution Architecture: From web frontend, over API gateway, through elegant backends on scalable infrastructure. You'll be able to help design innovative, resillient, monitored, cloud-native solutions.
* Product Expertise: Become a domain expert in Helena and Helena Pro product lines. You will bridge the gap between technical possibilities and the needs of our internal and external clients.
* Leading by Example: You remain a "builder" at heart. You will actively implement features and solve complex problems across the stack, setting the standard for quality and technical excellence.
Your profile
* Strong experience designing and developing applications with Java (17+) and Spring Boot (3+).
* Equal proficiency in modern frontend technologies (React or similar, TypeScript).
* Proven track record with SQL & No-SQL databases.
* Experience with cloud-native technologies (S3, K8s, Helm, etc.) and software design patterns.
* A pragmatic, solution-driven approach that balances technical "perfection" with delivery.
* A constructive, approachable team player who thrives in an open, cutting-edge environment.
* Attention to non-functional requirements (performance, security, and accessibility).
* Native mobile experience (Android, iOS, React Native, or similar) is a plus
* Knowledge of the healthcare domain (KMEHR, FHIR, eHealth standards) is a plus
* Proficiency in English (required) and Dutch (nice to have)
