About the role
To support the next phase of SwiftPharma’s growth, we are recruiting a pragmatic and results-driven Global Business Development Lead to take full ownership of our business development landscape, from strategic planning to hands-on execution.
This newly created position reflects the increased complexity and scaling ambitions of our organization. The Global Business Development Lead will drive international growth by identifying, engaging, and securing strategic clients and partnerships across the biomanufacturing ecosystem. This includes leading and coordinating external business development consultants. The Global Business Development Lead will focus on maximizing SwiftPharma’s reach and market penetration, positioning its unique plant-based platform as a premier alternative to traditional protein expression systems.
This role requires a deep understanding of CDMO business models, recombinant protein production technologies, and a proven track record in B2B sales or strategic partnerships within life sciences or biotechnology sectors. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, globally minded, and passionate about sustainable innovation in biomanufacturing.
The Global Business Development Lead will report directly to the CEO and the Executive Team, and act as a key commercial sparring partner within the leadership structure.
Key responsibilities
1.Market development & client acquisition
* Identify and develop new business opportunities in biopharma, life science, diagnostics, and food tech sectors across international markets.
* Build and manage a pipeline of qualified leads, from early engagement to contract negotiation and closure.
* Represent SwiftPharma at international conferences, trade fairs, and industry events to enhance visibility and generate leads.
2.Strategic account management
* Foster long-term relationships with key accounts, understanding client needs and ensuring alignment with SwiftPharma’s technical capabilities and service offerings.
* Collaborate closely with Project Management and R&D teams to ensure seamless project onboarding and delivery.
3.Partnerships & alliances
* Cultivate strategic alliances with technology partners, innovation hubs, and research institutions that complement SwiftPharma’s mission.
* Explore co-development and licensing opportunities aligned with the company’s growth strategy.
4.Market intelligence & commercial strategy
* Conduct competitive analysis and market research to inform pricing, positioning, and service development strategies.
* Provide input into the strategic planning process by providing strategic client feedback and identifying emerging trends in biomanufacturing and biologics.
Profile requirements
* Master's degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Bioprocessing, or related discipline; MBA or equivalent commercial training is a plus.
* Strong knowledge of protein expression systems, especially plant-based or alternative biologics production technologies.
* At least 7 years of experience in business development, sales, and licensing in a biotech, pharma, or life sciences environment.
* Demonstrated success in closing international B2B deals and managing complex sales cycles.
* Existing network of contacts in the pharmaceutical, diagnostic, or biotech sectors is highly desirable.
* Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, with the ability to manage sensitive topics with professionalism.
* Excellent communicator and team player, with the ability to align and motivate cross-functional stakeholders.
* Able to work independently, take ownership, and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
* Highly organized and hands-on, with a practical, problem-solving mindset.
* Experience in startup or scale-up environments is a strong asset.
* Proficient with modern project management and workflow tools.
* Fluency in English required; additional languages are a plus.
* Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
