KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Role Purpose
The Merchandising Manager – Europe is responsible for building and executing a consumer relevant, profitable, scalable seasonal assortments that support brand and commercial objectives across diverse European markets (on the JR286 product portfolio that we distribute.)
This role focuses on insights, product strategy, seasonal adoption/execution, marketplace relevance, and commercial performance, ensuring assortments are right for Europe’s varied consumer needs, selling environments, and channel mix.
Key Accountabilities
1. European Assortment & Line Management (for our markets Benelux/Germany/France/AGS and for Nike Direct)
* Own the development of European seasonal assortments aligned to JR286/Nike global direction & regional commercial priorities.
* Provide feedback and drive action on global ranges to meet European fit, pricing, climatic, & marketplace requirements.
* Ensure clear segmentation across:
-Core vs. seasonal product
-Key franchises vs. supplementary styles
-Price points & margin bands
* Identify missed/incremental opportunities & build/deliver credible cases for introduction & adoption.
* Key accessories category focus: Running, Training, Basketball, Hydration, Lifestyle, Golf, Team Sports.
2. Seasonal Execution & Go‑to‑Market
* Lead seasonal line planning from kick-off through market launch, GTM meeting prep & presentations, ensuring on‑time, on‑strategy delivery
* Own readiness for key milestones including sell‑in, go‑to‑market tools, & retail moments
3. Marketplace & Channel Alignment
* Build assortments that work across DTC & wholesale with clear differentiation where required
* Build & maintain an ever-evolving portfolio of market & consumer insights that informs both current & future strategy
4. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with:
-The Product Licensee to validate line plans & seasonal depth, ensuring locally relevant assortments.
-Planning on sales targets, margins, & pricing
-Sales & Marketing to address account needs, support key customers and to deliver product focused proposal with seasonal storytelling
* Act as the European merchandising voice in global & regional forums
* Act as a trusted partner to Sales, proactively addressing market needs & enabling agile responses
5. Franchise & Range Health
* Manage the performance & evolution of key franchises within Europe
* Identify opportunities to sharpen ranges through editing, simplification, or focus
6. Performance Management
* Track and manage core KPIs including:
-Sell‑through
-Margin
-Product productivity
* Conduct post‑season reviews to inform future assortment decisions
* Support in‑season actions in partnership with Planning & Sales teams where required
Key Skills & Capabilities
Merchandising & Commercial Acumen
* Strong experience in seasonal line building & range management
* Solid understanding of European retail & wholesale landscapes
* Confident working with sales, margin, & productivity data
Execution & Stakeholder Management
* Highly organized with strong attention to detail
* Able to manage multiple seasons & deadlines in parallel
* Effective communicator across cultures, countries, & functions

* Comfortable operating in a matrixed, fast‑moving environment
* Willing to challenge constructively while maintaining alignment
* A hands-on mindset with a strong willingness to dive into the details
Experience & Background
* 3-5 years of experience in merchandising, category management, or product management
* Proven experience working across European markets
* Experience in category-led approaches and execution excellence
* Background in sport, lifestyle, fashion, or consumer goods preferred
* Experience managing complex assortments across multiple countries or channels
* Fluent in English as minimum. Understanding of Dutch and French an advantage
