At
RIC biologics
, we don't just analyze biopharmaceutical products, we turn them inside-out to get to know all their quirks, down to the tiniest peak. We are basically
protein therapists
, except our patients are destined to save lives.
Driven by our
passion for analytics
we support our clients through all phases of their product's lifecycle: from early lead selection, throughout clinical research and during commercial activities. In short, we are the analytical
nerds
who make sure every molecule tells its story loud and clear.
In the context of our continued growth, our team is looking for a:
(SENIOR) SCIENTIST MASS SPECTROMETRY
PROFESSIONAL PROTEIN INTERROGATOR (THE MS EDITION)
(full-time)
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE SPECTRUM … preferably HIGH SIGNAL / LOW NOISE
* #YesWeCan #ProteinWhisperer #MassAppeal
* LC-MS
enthusiast who loves to make molecular elephants fly
* Good knowledge of
protein chemistry
and
protein separations
* Hands-on experience with LC-MS
data processing
and
characterization
of proteins
* Knows how to
crack the structural code
of mAbs, bispecifics, ADCs, fusion proteins, enzymes, etc. … we give you an MS/MS spectrum and you'll tell us not just what the protein is, but what it had for breakfast (post-translational modifications )
* You're fluent in all three
protein LC-MS
dialects: top-down, middle-down and bottom-up (and you know when to use which, unlike those MS wannabees who only speak bottom-up).
* Critical
mindset and good sense for initiative and attention to
quality and detail
* You understand that great science requires the right balance of
independence
and
collaboration
* Customer-minded, problem-solving mindset and
flexible
attitude
* Great
communicator
with excellent
writing/reporting and reviewing
skills
* Able to
multitask
and tackle
complex scientific questions
in a largely independent manner
* Translates protein science shizzle into
client-friendly
insights without losing scientific integrity (discussing requests, negotiating scope, presenting results)
* Dedicated to meeting
project
goals
within scope, time and budget
* Fluent in
English
(written and oral)
* Ph.D.
in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmacy or equivalent qualification due to experience
* A minimum of 5 years of making proteins sing (in m/z major, of course)
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING … THE SERIOUS STUFF
* You
handle
complex and scientifically challenging projects for our industrial (e.g. biotech and pharma) partners
* You
design
projects and experiments together with the customer and the commercial team.
* You ensure proper experiment
planning
and
execution
* You
process
data, capture findings in
reports
and
communicate
to clients
* You
manage
the analysis, identification, characterization and quantification of protein-based molecules such as monoclonal antibodies, antibody fragments, bispecifics, ADCs, fusion proteins and enzymes, by using liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-MS)
* You
develop
and
apply
innovative LC-MS methodologies for in-depth protein characterization at various development stages
* You
coach
and
train
(new) team members in LC-MS based protein characterization and ensure adequate reporting to the high company standards
* You provide
regular updates
to clients on project progress and way forward
* You report to your Team Lead
SOUNDS COOL BUT WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
* You will be part of a
privately-owned
and
ambitious
organization at the forefront of scientific evolutions, and where "My protein won't ionize" is a valid excuse for being late to meetings
* You will work with
cutting-edge biopharmaceuticals
(next-gen mAbs, ADCs, bispecifics, fusion proteins, …basically the Avengers of therapeutics)
* You will receive a
competitive salary
in line with your responsibilities and experience (because rent doesn't pay itself in m/z ratios) and
growth opportunities
that won't plateau like a poorly calibrated detector
* You will join a
dynamic
and
international team
that gets excited about clean fragmentation patterns and mass accuracy < 5 ppm
