We're looking for a freelance IT Project Lead in Brussels, 1 year +
We are looking for an experienced IT Project Lead to strengthen a growing digital organisation of roughly 150 professionals, including architects, analysts, developers, service managers and coordinators. You will join a group of five project leads responsible for steering a broad variety of initiatives across the company.
In this position, you convert business ideas into structured project proposals, define clear roadmaps, and prepare the business case together with stakeholders. You oversee the full project lifecycle: planning, governance, GDPR compliance, coordination with IT teams, and reporting to steering committees.
Depending on the assignment, you either collaborate with a business project owner or take on that role yourself. You also play an active part in improving internal processes such as portfolio management, resource planning and our hybrid Waterfall–Agile approach.
Key Responsibilities:
* Translate business needs into actionable project plans and validated business cases.
* Lead end-to-end project delivery, covering planning, scope, risk, compliance, and governance.
* Ensure alignment between infrastructure teams, business units, external partners, architects and development teams.
* Coordinate all IT-related deliverables and ensure smooth execution across all contributors.
* Prepare and follow up on GDPR assessments and steerco reporting.
* Support the organisation in improving project methodologies, forecasting and portfolio structure.
* Work within and help refine our Water-Scrum hybrid delivery framework.
* Maintain strong communication with the CIO, CISO, DPO, service managers, analysts, and suppliers.

* Minimum 8 years of experience managing IT application projects.
* At least 2 years of experience working in an Agile or hybrid methodology.
* Willingness to travel frequently to various sites in Belgium.
* Familiarity with tools such as SAP ECC6, Microsoft Office, Azure DevOps, Visio and ServiceNow.
* Professional proficiency in English, Dutch and French.
Nice to Have
* Background in the SAP landscape.
* Experience with HR processes or systems.
* Knowledge of Belgian HR topics and regulations.
