The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for managing supplier relationships and executing tactical purchasing strategies in alignment with Supplier Management Procedures. The role supports EDC’s Supply Chain operations through onboarding of new suppliers, supplier performance analysis and financial reporting. Key stakeholders include operational teams, suppliers, business units, and packaging engineering teams.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversee the full procurement cycle from order placement to delivery, invoicing, and financial reporting
2. Manage supplier onboarding and participate in the evaluation (SCAR, periodic evaluation,...) and end-to-end performance
3. Forecast purchasing needs based on historical data and business plans
4. Ensure all activities comply with internal and external quality, environmental, safety, and health guidelines
5. Ensure compliance with supplier management procedures and maintain accurate system data
6. Train internal stakeholders on purchasing policies and tools
7. Validate the accuracy and integrity of financial and operational data
8. Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
9. Drive operational efficiency and cost reduction through active project participation
10. Lead or support ad hoc purchasing and supplier management initiatives
11. Align purchasing goals with business objectives, long term sourcing strategies and supplier development.
12. Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES
13. Bachelor degree (Supply Chain, Economics,...) or equivalent by experience
14. Minimum 3 years of experience working in Purchasing, within a distribution environment is a strong asset
15. Detailed knowledge of a major ERP system (SAP preferred)
16. Excellent knowledge of office applications. Strong competencies in Microsoft Excel
17. Knowledge of ISO13485 is a strong asset
18. Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written) is necessary. French is an asset
19. Open minded, out-of-the-box thinker, able to propose and implement improvements
