Technical Lead – Mechanical and Maintenance Location: Bornem, Antwerp region, Belgium Work Setup: Onsite Contract Type: Freelance / ZZP Contract Length: 6 months Start: Immediate A food manufacturing site in the Antwerp region is looking for a Technical Lead to support the optimisation of its maintenance processes. The focus of this role is to bring structure to existing maintenance activities, formalise procedures, and build a reliable supplier and spare parts system to support production continuity. This is a hands-on technical role, not a management position, requiring strong mechanical understanding and the ability to work closely with internal teams and suppliers. Role Responsibilities Support with the maintenance process structure and optimisation Formalise and document existing maintenance procedures and workflows Source and evaluate suppliers for spare parts, balancing cost, quality and delivery time Build and implement a structured spare parts database Identify and define critical spare parts across mechanical and electromechanical equipment Establish short-term (urgent delivery) procurement strategies and suppliers Work closely with internal teams to ensure timely ordering and availability of parts Liaise directly with suppliers and vendors across Europe Requirements Experience in maintenance engineering or mechanical technician roles Knowledge of electromechanical systems (must have an understanding of: -Electric motors and gearboxes -Shredders and milling equipment -Conveying and transport systems -General electromechanical components Experience with spare parts management, supplier sourcing and procurement strategies Ability to structure and formalise maintenance processes and documentation Experience working with multiple suppliers and vendor management Dutch and English required, French strongly preferred Must be based in Belgium
