We are currently seeking motivated Automotive transmission Synchronizer Design Expert to join our team. By joining us, you'll be part of a leading company that is shaping the future of hybrid transmission technology.
In this role, you will be a key member of the Launch Devices, Shifting & Sealing Systems team, based in Eindhoven (NL) and Sint-Truiden (BE). As a Component Owner, you will lead the end-to-end development of Synchronizer systems.
Responsibilities
* Design and develop single, double, and triple-cone synchronizer systems, balancing space constraints, torque capacity, and shift-quality targets with vehicle performance requirements.
* Evaluate and select friction linings (e.g., Carbon, Brass, Molybdenum, or Sintered materials) to optimize the balance between shift feel and thermal durability.
* Apply a deep understanding of spline geometry, dog-teeth engagement, and detent mechanisms to component design.
* Perform detailed calculations for synchronization time, shift force, cone torque, and index torque.
* Conduct rigorous 1D and 3D tolerance stack-up studies to ensure functional reliability across manufacturing variances.
* Identify potential failure modes using DFMEA and develop comprehensive validation plans for synchronizer assemblies.
* Manage APQP and supplier communications, including coordinating design reviews and ensuring the timely delivery of prototype and production parts.
* Lead a multidisciplinary team (Design, Purchasing, SQE, and Process Development) specifically for synchronizer components.
* Apply DFM/DFA principles for processes such as forging, powder metallurgy, and fine blanking; leverage expertise in metallurgy and heat treatments (e.g., carburizing and nitriding).
Preferred qualifications
* You have an engineering bachelor’s or master’s degree (industrial, electromechanical, or mechanical).
* Experience in automotive development related processes i.e., DFMEA, APQP, 6-Sigma, 8D, GD&T
* Basic knowledge of CAE and strong knowledge of Creo and Windchill.
* Thanks to your persuasive communication skills and good knowledge of English, you excel at teamwork and are strong in reporting knowledge and results.
