Job Description:
The Nucleic Acid Vaccines Center of Excellence (NAV CoE), a global team within GSK’s Drugs Substance (DS) Vaccine’s Technical Research and Development organization, aims to develop next-generation RNA Drug Substance vaccine platforms for rapid development of new vaccine candidates. It has branches in Rockville, MD, US (Cambridge, MA from 2025) and Rixensart, Belgium.
We are seeking an RNA DS Platform Analytical Leader to join the NAV CoE and lead a global team of analytical scientists based in Belgium and the US. The role involves continuous development and optimization of RNA-based vaccine platforms, integrating cutting-edge technologies, and advancing vaccine candidates from development to clinical manufacturing.
This position, based in the US or Belgium, reports to the Global Head of the NAV CoE and plays a key role in shaping GSK’s mRNA vaccine platforms to address unmet medical needs. It offers opportunities to lead activities, collaborate with top industry talents, and advance your career while ensuring timely project delivery in collaboration with process development colleagues.
Main responsibilities:
* Lead development of in-process analytics with a team of approximately 5 scientists across US and Belgium to facilitate RNA DS platform process development and evolution.
* Collaborate closely with the Global Head of NAV CoE, RNA Platform Development Leader, and RNA Project Delivery Leader to drive process development and project execution excellence.
* Coordinate with Analytical R&D to align on technologies, method development, and transfer, building robust, state-of-the-art methods and control strategies for different stages.
* Act as an opinion leader within the organization, influencing strategy and framework for a robust global mRNA production strategy.
* Promote an open, transparent, and collaborative global culture.
Basic Qualifications:
* PhD in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
* At least 6 years of industry experience in analytics development for biomolecules, preferably nucleic acids.
* Minimum of 1 year in development activities supporting CMC.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with Quality by Design.
* Knowledge of regulatory environments, especially FDA/ICH/ISPE guidelines.
* Strong leadership, management, and communication skills in global settings.
* Excellent project management skills.
* Open, positive mindset.
* Critical thinking skills.
